Hosting a Mixer
Tips on Hosting a Successful Mixer
When holding a Successful Thinkers Network mixer, it’s important to remember that the bigger your STN mixers are, the larger your pool of prospects will be for promoting your business, product, service and idea. That being said, a smaller mixer provides an intimate environment that makes it easy to create strong relationships.
If you’d like to start a new STN mixer location, it is critical you open it up to other local Ambassadors so they can give you a hand or at least be there to help launch the first meeting. We know that sometimes Lead Ambassadors want to take the burden on to open a location on their own but our goal is to help one another create a successful meetup so everyone receives the maximum return on the time they invest with STN. There are people that would love to support you, attend your events and invite new guests to your new meet-ups. If everybody works together in a thoughtful and considerate manner it can make the initial launch in the new area successful for everyone.
Remember to:
- - Keep everyone positive
- - Edify everyone equally
- - Encourage others
Before the Mixer:
- - Find other volunteers who are willing to help*
- - Order business cards through STN and use the flyer templates that contain the STN approved artwork. Business owners can then recognize who sent them. These cards and flyers are designed to be passed out and placed around town to give people information about your mixer.
- - When looking for the location for your meeting, make sure your location is presentable and easy to find.
- - Post your mixer on www.SuccessfulThinkersNetwork.com
- - Post your event on other online calendars such as Zvents: http://corporate.zvents.com/company/media.html Zvents will automatically post your event in their affiliate newspapers close to your zip code. Here is another such event poster as well. http://eventful.com/sacramento/events/categories/conference
- - Post on, EventBrite, Google Calendar, Yahoo Calendar, etc.
- - Post your event on other social networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MeetUp, etc.)
At the Mixer
Follow the agenda. All parts of the agenda should be followed to assure continuity and duplication within STN. When this happens you can feel confident in sending your colleagues to a meeting in their city, knowing that they will have the same experience as you, with the only variance being the personalities in the front of the room.
- - Be punctual and begin all meetings on time
- - Introduce yourself to all members and guests
- - Act as a liaison for mixer participants who may not be initially comfortable introducing themselves to others
- - Always have name badges and felt pen (for writing on the badges)
- - Always have Successful Thinkers Network sign-in sheets for members and guests.
- - Don’t forget pens for sign-in sheets and a stapler to staple everyone’s business cards to the attendee sign-in sheet
- - Be on the lookout for more volunteers who are willing to help at other mixers*
*Your volunteers will be the members that you initially turn to, to fill the available leadership positions
